The Architect in the Room: Why Soft Skills Matter More Than Frameworks
Join us at this month’s EA Forum, where Boitumelo Molete, Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand, will explore how the architect in the room can ultimately determine whether architecture initiatives succeed or fail.
Boitumelo’s presentation will explore the critical skills that enable architects to influence outcomes in complex, rapidly changing, stakeholder-driven environments. Rather than frameworks and diagrams, she will focus on confidence, analytical thinking, communication, and the ability to “read the room” so as to navigate organisational dynamics, politics, and change. The session will also highlight some of the key behaviours and traits of effective architects, such as being realistic, ethical, present, and resolute.
Boitumelo Molete established and leads the EA portfolio, providing strategic direction, standards, and governance for IT and information systems at the University of the Witwatersrand. With 18 years of management experience, she contributes to global architecture communities through The Open Group. She holds a BCom Honours in Statistics and certifications in TOGAF, project management, and business analysis
