EA Forum - The Evolution of Business Architecture in Business Strategy

  • Radisson Blu Hotel, Sandton Corner Rivonia Road and Daisy Street Sandton, GP, 2196 South Africa (map)

Join us at this month’s EA Forum, where Nilesh Makan, Lead Business Architect at Old Mutual, will explore the critical need for a holistic, systems-level view of the enterprise in today's complex and unpredictable world.

As organisations face increasing complexity, traditional siloed problem-solving is no longer effective. In this session, Nilesh will discuss how Business Architecture serves as a practical lens for navigating this complexity, closing the gap between good intentions and real-world outcomes.

In his presentation, Nilesh will discuss:

  • Navigating Complexity: Moving beyond yesterday's siloed thinking in an increasingly incomprehensible world.

  • The Systems-Level View: Connecting the dots across functions and surfacing hidden organisational dependencies.

  • Linking Strategy to Execution: Using Business Architecture as a practical tool rather than just a theoretical framework exercise.

  • Clarity as an Advantage: Helping leaders make sense of complexity to deliver sustainable change.

With over 25 years of experience leading transformation across business and technology, Nilesh Makan has held consulting and leadership roles at IBM, PwC, Sasol, and Old Mutual. Currently the Lead Business Architect at Old Mutual, Nilesh leverages his deep expertise in systems thinking, capability-based planning, and enterprise transformation to effect meaningful change. He holds an MBA, a Postgraduate Diploma in Innovation and Design Thinking, and is TOGAF® certified. Nilesh is an active contributor to professional communities and is a strong advocate for addressing complex challenges through architectural disciplines.
